Customers buying wine.
Terms of Sale
The terms you agree to when you buy wine through a storefront hosted on Adval — age, delivery, pricing, breakage and refunds.

Who you are buying from
Adval (“Adval”, “we”, “us”) operates adval.wine. The winery shops on this site are templates. They show what a shop will look like. They do not take paid orders. Adval does not hold US state alcohol licences yet. Adval does not have a US warehouse yet. Adval gets the licences and the warehouse after wineries sign up. No paid order ships until both are in place. The licence Adval gets is a Washington, DC Class B Internet Retailer licence: wine and beer only, internet sales only, no public-facing premises, sealed-container delivery between 7am and midnight. The District of Columbia's local government changed its law. A brand that is not already sold in the United States can sell wine and beer directly to the customer.
The wine is produced by the winery whose shop you are looking at. When paid orders are open, Adval handles the sale, the payment, the import, and the delivery. Paid orders are not open. These shops are templates.
You must be 21 or older
You must be at least 21 years old to buy wine here, and you confirm that at checkout.
An adult aged 21 or over must be present to sign for the delivery. The carrier will ask for identification and will not leave wine unattended. If nobody is available to sign, the carrier will attempt redelivery according to its own policy and may ultimately return the shipment to us.
It is an offence to buy alcohol for anyone under 21. We will cancel any order we believe is intended for someone underage.
Where we can ship
Choosing a state on a template shop does not place an order. When Adval ships, delivery is only to states that allow this kind of shipment, and only where Adval holds the permission. Adval does not hold those permissions yet. No paid order ships until the licences are in place. When payment is open, you choose your destination state before you pay, and Adval checks it again against the address you give at payment.
If the address you enter at payment is in a state we cannot ship to, we will cancel the order and refund you in full. We will not deliver wine to a state we are not permitted to serve, whatever was selected earlier in the process.
Some states also cap how much wine one person may receive in a given period. Where that applies we enforce it, and we may reduce or decline an order to stay within the limit.
Prices, shipping and tax
Bottle prices are set by the winery and shown in US dollars. The price you see already includes import duty, federal excise and ocean freight. There is no surprise import bill on delivery.
US sales tax is not included in the bottle price, and Adval does not collect it yet. When that changes, the amount you pay will show the tax before you pay.
Shipping is charged separately and is shown before you pay. The rate depends on how many bottles you order: larger orders travel in a consolidated shipment, which is cheaper per bottle and faster.
Delivery times are estimates
Paid orders do not ship yet. The shops are templates. When a paid order can ship, the wine leaves the winery in Europe, clears US customs, and is grouped in the United States before a carrier delivers it. Adval does not have that warehouse yet. Adval gets it after wineries sign up.
The delivery windows shown on a template are estimates, not guarantees. Customs, weather, carrier delays, and grouping schedules can change them. When an order exists, Adval writes to you at each stage, and you can follow it from the link in the confirmation email.
Adval can hold a shipment when extreme heat or cold would damage the wine. That hold is on only when Adval sets it for heat or for cold. While it is on, the carrier does not receive the wine, and Adval writes to you. When the hold is off, weather does not stop the shipment.
If a bottle arrives broken
If wine arrives broken or damaged in transit, that is on us. Tell us within 14 days of delivery and we will replace the bottle or refund it, at your choice. Please keep the packaging and send us a photograph if you can — it helps us fix the underlying problem.
Faults in the wine itself — cork taint, spoilage, or the wrong wine in the bottle — are the winery's responsibility. Tell us anyway: we will handle it with the winery on your behalf rather than sending you to them.
We do not refund wine simply because you did not enjoy it.
Cancelling and refunds
You can cancel any time before your order is assigned to a shipment, and we will refund you in full. Once wine is in transit across the Atlantic we generally cannot recall it, but contact us and we will do what we can.
Where we cancel — because we cannot lawfully ship to your address, because a volume limit applies, or because we cannot fulfil the order — you get a full refund including shipping, and we will tell you why.
Refunds return to the payment method you used. Your bank decides how quickly it appears, usually within a few working days.
Your order and your account
There are no accounts. We email you a private tracking link tied to your order and your email address. Treat it as confidential — anyone with the link can see that order's status and delivery address. The link expires; you can request a fresh one at any time.
Liability
Nothing in these terms limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that cannot lawfully be limited.
Subject to that, our total liability for any order is limited to the amount you paid for it.
